Barr, A.D., and Townley, L.R. (1991), SALTPROD: a simulation model for systems of salt evaporation ponds, International Hydrology and Water Resources Symposium 1991, Perth, 2-4 October, Volume 3, 657-658.

This paper presents a model, SALTPROD, which is capable of simulating a system of salt evaporation ponds. The paper covers the methods the model uses to simulate a system of ponds, as well as a brief description of the physical processes involved. An example salt disposal system is modelled for varying climatic and physical conditions. These varying conditions are the annual evaporation rate, the annual rainfall rate, the pond leakage rate, and the concentration of the inflowing brine. The results can be used as a guide for the design of salt disposal systems.
