Even though the original paper (Townley, 1995) contained no significant mathematical errors, this Addendum has been prepared (i) to give readers access to 3D graphics that are of much higher quality than are available online, (ii) to provide access to Mathematica notebook files in both .nb and .pdf formats, that demonstrate the use of Mathematica to obtain the six published solutions and to produce high quality graphics and animations to illustrate the solutions, and (iii) to explain and correct a number of minor errors in the original paper, mainly in labelling of Figures.

This Addendum is supported by Townley (2023), which is listed here separately under "Software and data".

This Addendum is single-authored. If you look carefully at the reference list, all papers in the reference list are also single-authored papers, with the exception of a reference to Mathematica software. This kind of research is often undertaken alone, because it requires concentration and focus and does not require assistance from a team of people with different skills.

Certainly the Addendum is unusual, having been accepted 28 years after the original publication. The author is grateful to the editor of Advances in Water Resources for allowing this Addendum to proceed.
