The 100 ha comprising Star Swamp Bushland is listed by the Australian Heritage Commission as part of the National Estate. Justification for the listing included the area's scientific, educational, historic and recreational importance.

Terms of reference which form the basis of the report relate to:

• a description of the area in terms of its floristic, fauna and hydrological characteristics;
• identification of areas of special interest and application including special reference to disabled persons;
• a management plan with special reference to fire and weed control;
• proposals for implementation of the management plan.
